Strathmore

This impressive home in one of Strathmore’s best streets was surrounded by slopping land with little usability, making it an uninviting space for the owners and their growing family. The brief from the clients was to transform their outdoor area to connect the inside with out and to create something timeless and functional to complement their period home. The final design included a tiered garden structure including three key levels and several different garden rooms simultaneously coming together to draw people out and around the garden. Connecting the inside to out is a large bluestone paved area with a distinctive arbour covered in ornamental grapes to create a shaded area for entertaining. This space then steps down onto a decking area that enjoys a full view of the expansive lawn areas, with formed hedging and lush gardens, full of eye-catching plants to compliment the red brick home. The circle shaped and corten steel edged lawn areas led to a private fire pit area to gather and host family and friends.
